Meet Our Team
Joseph has also achieved the designations of Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), and Certified Green Professional (CGP). He has served as an executive board member of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, and currently serves on Seattle Central Community College’s Wood Construction Center Technical Advisory Board. He is active in the Remodeler’s Council, The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), The Rental Housing Association’s (RHA) Associates Council and the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA). He is a National and State Director for the NAHB and the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) and is actively involved in committee work. Joseph plays an active role in the communities where he lives and works, and is a member of Shoreline’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in addition to volunteering his personal and company’s time to many local charities and organizations. When not working, Joseph enjoys traveling, snowboarding, motorcycling, running, biking, and spending time with his family and friends. When taking a break at the office, Joseph relaxes by admiring the fish in his beautiful 155 gallon tank displayed in the conference room. He is the proud father of an amazing little girl and thinks the best part of every work day is making his clients remodeling dreams come true.
 Rhett Irons project manager, is the youngest of the brothers and has developed a well-rounded skill set from his varied work in the construction industry. In addition to customer service, Rhett has handled roofing, tool/equipment rental and repair, and janitorial/maintenance. He will receive his CGR designation this year and is known for his eye for detail and skill in working with a variety of materials. When not remodeling, Rhett likes to go snowboarding, spend time with family and play disc golf with friends. His favorite part of being on the Irons Brothers Construction team is the chance to work with like-minded experts everyday.
 Arne Strand was first on staff in 2003 and has returned to invest his skills in our clients’ projects. His responsibilities are wide and varied, ranging from general labor, property protection, and assisting with tools and equipment. Arne rounds out each project with his attention to detail and quick thinking. He also proactively ensures each site’s safety as well as facilitates the smooth flow. Whether in prepping for painting, tile or assisting in demolition, he is quick to offer his skills in countless ways. Our clients appreciate the care and consideration for their home he demonstrates during each phase of the project. Arne has been acquainted with the Irons family for over 20 years. Arne’s experience in facility maintenance, automotive, custodial, landscaping, and day porter, contributes to his success. In his personal life, Arne makes jewelry and enjoys hiking, camping as well as a variety of music.
 Melissa Irons, CGR CGP, has been CFO and Office Manager of Irons Brothers Construction since 2005. In addition to being mother to 2 little girls, Venetia and Samaria, Melissa uses her background in nursing, management and customer service to keep the office’s systems running smoothly. Raised in Seattle, Melissa loves spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and exercising. Her favorite part of remodeling is matching the products and finishes to the client’s needs and wants.

Scarlet Haney is our director of first impressions and generally the first person clients encounter when contacting Irons Brothers Construction. As office administrator, executive assistant, and safety officer, she plays a large part in both our day-to-day and long-term operations. Her background includes healthcare, case management and supervisory experience, and she has education in both Criminal Justice and the Arts and Sciences. A Seattle native, Scarlet is mother to three children and enjoys the outdoors, arts and supporting her children in their activities. She thrives on coordinating a team approach to overcoming challenges.
Christopher Hjorten is a part-time lead carpenter for Irons Brothers Construction. He is a true Seattle native and Chinook tribal member. Growing up he enjoyed watching home improvement shows and working on the house with his Dad. He began his carpentry career installing hardwood floors and has been building and remodeling high-end residential homes for the past 8 years. His past military experience fits in well with the structure and systems at Irons Brothers Construction. Chris’s specialty is finish carpentry work where he enjoys focusing in on the details. Outside of work he enjoys dirt-bike riding, snowboarding, fishing, sports, and spending time with family and friends. Chris’s favorite part of a project is the finish phase where all the final custom details come together.
